2.    Welcome Address by the Chairman of Great Hale Parish Council and report on Parish Council Activities during the past year.

Councillor Turner welcomed all to the Annual Parish Meeting 2019 and thanked them for attending, then continued to report the following:

Another busy year in which Covid restrictions were relaxed and legislation allowing virtual meetings was removed, which meant the return to in person meetings at the village hall, with mask wearing and social distance been maintained.

At the start of the year Kirsty Sinclair our Parish Clerk left our employment to pursue a full-time opportunity with another Parish Council. We thanked her for her time and support that she had given the Parish Council during her term with us. We welcomed and appointed Dawn Smith as our new Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer at our meeting of the 23rd of June 2021.

It was with great sadness that we learnt of the death of Councillor Simon Needham on the 1st of October 2021. Simon was a friend and colleague to us all and had been a much-valued member of the Parish Council who had served and supported the local community both as a Councillor and as a Parishioner. Simon’s wisdom and willingness to help is a big loss to both the Parish Council and to the Village of Great Hale as a whole.

At the meeting of the 7th of February Councillor Graham Cooke was unanimously Co-opted on to the Parish Council. Graham brings with him a great deal of knowledge and commitment to serving the Parish and will be a great asset to the Council.

Towards the end of the year Dawn Smith handed in her notice to retire from the Council who were grateful for all the work that she had done for us during her term of Office. We were pleased to have appointed Tracy Cooke to the Parish Council as Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer in March and in a short while she is already picking up the role admirably and we look forward to working with her for many years to come.  Our thanks also go to Kirsty Sinclair for helping us out and standing in as a Locum Clerk to ease and help the transition process of Clerks.

There has been a lot of housing developments in the Parish over the last year which has generated two Community Infrastructure Levy payments of £1,503.04 and £2,311.06 which is used to support local community projects which will benefit all Parishioners.

The Parish Council are grateful to the volunteer litter pickers who continue keep our village tidy and our thanks go to them.

We would also like to thank the County Councillor and the District Councillors for their regular attendance to meetings and advices throughout the year.
